While finishing his studies in Basel, Flavio Ferri-Benedetti contacted Prof. Dr. Carmen Morenilla Talens, Ancient Greek Literature scholar at Universitat de València (Spain), with ideas about a possible research in the field of Classical Tradition and Baroque Opera. As a result, he enrolled as PhD candidate in Literature (Lenguas y Literaturas) and later became a European PhD cum laude. He is a collaborator of the research group Grup de Recerca i Acció Teatral de la Universitat de València (GRATUV), directed by Prof. Carmen Morenilla Talens.

Fields of interest include classical tradition, philology, Italian language and literature, musicology, dramaturgy, baroque and neo-classical aesthetics of the 18th century, translation, philological edition of long-lost musical works...

Flavio is passionate about teaching voice and Italian diction/rhetoric/repertoire privately while dedicating professionally to performing as a countertenor. Since 2012 he is a guest teacher at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis where he teaches the Italiano per cantanti course, having already given Italian extra courses at the Advanced Vocal Ensemble Studies Master-program directed by Anthony Rooley.
